    Request Form/Information for Teaching an Adult Education Class 

    As an Adult Education Instructor, you determine the content and setup of your class. All classes must be taught at a Polson School District building. You can offer a one-time class, a full series of eight weeks, or anything in between.  Instructors will be compensated $25/hour plus a $40.00 set up fee for a full 8-week class or prorated at $5.00 per week for shorter classes. A typical fee charged in the past has been around $20.00 for the entire session, however you set the cost and may also charge a supply fee for materials. There must be a minimum of 5 students at the first class or it will be canceled.

    Fee:  Basic fee plus additional fee if extra materials are necessary for the class you are teaching

    Wood Shop

    Students will have access to the shop and tools to work on projects of their choice.   Students are responsible for their own materials and plans.   Instructor will be available to assist students with plans, project construction, and safe operation of tools/equipment.

    Strength & Conditioning

    As a certified USA Olympic Weight Training coach, Withrow will be providing an open weight room for anyone interested from 6:30am to 7:30am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Program will be available upon request. *The main doors of Polson High School will be locked; participants can access the gym through the west door of the PHS gym.

    Everything Apple

    Do you have questions about your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac laptop or Mac computer? This could be a class for you. In this series of four classes, we will cover basic operations, iCloud, Photos, iTunes, App Store, etc., etc. anything related to these devices. The classes will be tailored to the attending audience and their needs.

    Photoshop/Photo Editing

    We will be discussing techniques and applications you can use to edit and adjust your photos both on mobile and desktop computers. 

    Will be touching on application such as Photoshop, Light Room and Gimp Photo to name a few. Whether you are on PC, Mac, or mobile there are ways to make your photos better.

    Learn from an instructor that has had experience in the advertising business since 1989. Steven has worked on applications such as Photoshop since their introductory versions.

    Zumba Fitness

    Come join the party! Zumba is a Latin-dance based fitness program that is for EVERYONE. No dance experience required! You'll learn salsa, merengue, reggae ton and cumbia with a few radio hits mixed in! Songs are "tailored" to all fitness levels with low-mid or high impact modifications. Just wear comfortable workout clothes and bring a water bottle for a good time!

    Line Dancing

    Line dancing for everyone! No experience necessary.  This class is perfect for beginners to advanced dancers and no partner is needed. Let loose and boogie down to a wide variety of music. Line dancing is also a great workout – get those steps in and have a blast doing it!  Come join in the fun and learn many motivating line dance routines.

    Beading 101

    Beading 101 Beading teaches the methods and history of artistically decorating all types of clothing and other utilitarian objects with beadwork. Beginner and experience beaders will be learn on improving their skills in applying the designs and colors used by Native American people throughout Turtle Island. Beaders will look at a variety of patterns and have the freedom to create their own designs. A material list will be provided the first evening.

    Writing your family’s story.

    Students will learn how to use creative writing techniques to craft a narrative about their family history. Course covers how to build dialogue and a climax into the story, using strong sensory details and humor.

    Cooking Class for Parents and Kids

    Cooking Learn the basic kitchen skills, cooking on a budget, local food, and more!

    Sessions are identical so please sign-up for one. Families are encouraged to sign-up.

    Please limit your group to four people. Kids must be 9+ to participate. A parent or guardian MUST accompany all kids.

    Joy of Knitting

    Join us as we spend eight weeks learning the basics of knitting. We will learn the following:

    History of knitting in the U.S. How to cast on a project. The basic knit and pearl stitch. How to read patterns. How to increase and decrease stitches. The basic cable stitch.

    How to knit on different types of needles (straight, double pointed, circular), and how to finish a project!

    We will begin with a scarf. You do not need any prior experience, just a smile and willingness to learn! When you finish your scarf I can help you move onto another project!

    We will supply one set of knitting needles and one skein of yarn to get you started!

    Maps and Navigation

    This course will introduce students to the basics of map reading and navigation for outdoor recreation. The class will discuss topological and land status maps, orienteering with a compass and route finding. Participants will also learn about coordinate systems such as: latitude and longitude, Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) and Public Land Survey System and how these systems can be used to enhance their outdoor activities. The class will also discuss the use of Geographic Positioning Systems (GPS) and the use of smart phones applications.

    This course will benefit those that enjoy outdoor pursuits such as: hiking, hunting and backcountry skiing.

    Bootcamp/Circuit Mix Babe! CHANGE is the name of the game 'nothing changes if nothing changes' where every workout is something new.

    Soul Fire Series Yoga

    A blend of vinyasa flow, plyometrics, weights, and dancing. All moves based on yoga with an attitude for life, this class is high energy, super fun and filled with laughter.

    Think of it as BPMs for your OMs

    Circle of Security Parenting Class

    Who should attend: Parents of children (especially those 0-3 years of age); caregivers, daycare and preschool teachers; others interested in learning great parenting skills. Learning objectives: 1) Understand your child’s emotional world. 2) Support your child’s ability to manage emotions. 3) Enhance the development of your child’s self-esteem. 4) Honor your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure.
